Bell Aliant brings legal action against Rogers in New Brunswick
February 16, 2010 - 3:48pm Bell Aliant has filed a legal claim in the Court of Queen's Bench in Fredericton, New Brunswick against Rogers Communications Inc. In its statement of claim, Bell Aliant is asking the court for an immediate injunction to stop Rogers from making false and misleading claims about its Internet service. In its claim Bell Aliant asserts that current advertising by Rogers Communications Inc. is false and misleading with respect to their claims to having the "fastest and most reliable" high speed Internet product. In fact, Bell Aliant's FibreOP service provides speeds that are superior to those advertised by Rogers. With respect to network reliability, Bell Aliant has one of the most reliable networks in North America. The company believes that Rogers' claim of being the "most reliable" is simply not true, based on how that term is commonly understood.
Bell Aliant's previous attempts to address its concerns directly with Rogers have not been successful, leading to its decision to launch today's legal action as the next step to stop this type of advertising which it claims is unfair to them as a service provider as well as to customers. |
